Lock him up.

From today's New York Times (2/15/2017):

"WASHINGTON — Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, according to four current and former American officials." emphasis added story link

Add this information to the growing list of evidence that Trump has been supported by Russia all along↦fake news, trolling on social media, targeted hacks of the DNC server, possible voting irregularities, refusal to release tax returns, and so on.  It is a mind-boggling list and one which we only know about because we have a free press.

The gullibility of voters during the campaign amazed me.  Beyond Trump's bald-faced lies at rallies, he held up Putin as a figure of RESPECT.  This, a leader who is a murderer and tyrant. If there is anyone out there in my readership who still supports Trump, please take a few days and READ THE NEWS.  By news, I mean papers with a moderate slant...not Breitbart or Fox.

At this time, 3 weeks into this debacle, my sadness and anger for America continue to grow.  If Trump colluded with Russia for this powerful position, he should go down.  If Trump was compromised by Russia, he could have reached out at any time for help from our government.  He did not, and should go down.  If he was ignorant of all of this, and only his campaign staff did the dirty deeds, he was woefully unprepared for this world stage, and he should go down.

He should go down.

  1. From the cited article:
"Several of Mr. Trump’s associates, like Mr. Manafort, have done business in Russia. And it is not unusual for American businessmen to come in contact with foreign intelligence officials, sometimes unwittingly, in countries like Russia and Ukraine, where the spy services are deeply embedded in society. Law enforcement officials did not say to what extent the contacts might have been about business.

The officials would not disclose many details, including what was discussed on the calls, the identity of the Russian intelligence officials who participated, and how many of Mr. Trump’s advisers were talking to the Russians. It is also unclear whether the conversations had anything to do with Mr. Trump himself."

    1. yes, it is unclear why campaign staff would have repeated contact with Russian officials. If business, what is the business? Trump won't release any info and we can only surmise. It is clear that an investigation is necessary.

    2. Can't for the life of me imagine why President* T's campaign staff would speak with the Russians DURING THE AMERICAN PRESIDENTAL CAMPAIGN.
Mmm, they were sharing recipes? They're sewing buddies? Nah, I'll bet they were cooking up a scheme to get President* T elected.

  2. I completely agree. I think Pence is culpable too and should also "fired" but that leaves us with Ryan and that almost scares me more than Trump. The more information that comes out, the more obvious it is that the election was stolen and we're in a mess.

  3. They are all in on it...the sooner they get ousted the better...this is not my America! Good going, Mary!

  4. I'm with you. Since the election I lost my sewing mojo and delved into current events. I have learned so much in the last few months and I have learned a lesson (one I think the country has learned, too):

I will NEVER EVER again take it for granted that I am lucky enough to live in a democracy with rights and liberties. Now I am adding one more word: responsibility. I will be much more educated on issues, and I will invest time & energy & money towards local, state and federal elections. I am very relieved at the news coming out now and I think the Trump administration's days are numbered. Whew!

  5. This is what happens with the dumping down of America. I will say it has made us all more aware of the poverty and suffering that has gone on in the rust belt and other parts of the country. Each and everyone of must remember just how awful it feels to be powerless and transfer that to people who have struggled to better themselves for 20 plus years. It's hard to keep up with issues when you are working 2 or 3 crappy jobs, trying to put food on the table and clothes on your kids backs. Many of these people did just what they were told, they worked hard, they put away what they could and still failed.
Until we realize this is our America, all of it and reach out to change it without judgement. Most of these folks didn't want to unleash Trump upon us as we see him, they just wanted a chance at relief they haven't seen for decades. Be angry at the politicians who led them on and along with that righteous indignation, maybe a bit of empathy and kindness.

  6. Perhaps it is easy to readily imagine wrong doing on Trump's part when one reads of Ted Kennedy's documented dealings with the USSR during the 1984 presidential election:

    Ted Kennedys Soviet Gambit

the Russian Uranium Deal and the Clinton Foundation:

Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal

and Podesta's ties to Russia and Saudia Arabia:

  7. The above links are interesting but require a thorough reading. Such a reading shows tangential connections at best. In one case the author is quite clear that the connection is based on money given to the Clinton foundation in order to help others, not contributions that helped either Clinton personally or professionally.

    Mary, I share your concerns.

  8. According to Peter Schweizer who researched the tax filings of the Clinton Foundation, six percent of contributions went to charitable endeavors. Hopefully, the House Oversight Committee will pursue an investigation into Clinton Foundation along with an investigation into the tangential ties in the article cited by Mary.

    1. Thank you for your input but we are talking about Russian interference in this election, which is well documented. Please stay with the topic at hand.

    4. Hey Anon 8:31pm, This link to Charity Watch will help you out on your misconceptions: https://www.charitywatch.org/ratings-and-metrics/bill-hillary-chelsea-clinton-foundation/478

Your Breitbach news stats really have little credibility. The following shows his "trainwreck of sloppy research and shoddy reporting" : http://mediamatters.org/research/2015/04/30/twenty-plus-errors-fabrications-and-distortions/203480

    5. Media Matters is funded by David Brock. I suggest that you also do some research on him and also on Charity Watch. I had already done so before I posted. Peter Schweizer examined the tax filings of the foundation. I appreciate your concern for my state of mind.

  10. I am keeping my sanity by trying to take one small action each day (sending a check to an organization doing good work, subscribing to quality journalism, thanking a Republican elected official who dares to stick a neck out, etc) and by remembering the role that quality journalism and fearless activists played in ousting Nixon, in ending the Vietnam War, in securing voting rights.
