Real life is dirty

I enjoy reading blogs, especially those with gorgeous backgrounds in the photos.  While I do try to stage some of my photos, for the most part I shoot, write and publish.  For some time, I've wanted to post some photos of my wonderful boy Nick, and perhaps even some ridden shots.  It hasn't happened because 1)I need a photographer for the ridden photos, 2)my chosen photographer hates, hates, hates the cold, and 3)Nick is growing out a bad haircut (totally my fault as I trimmed him as though he were an Arabian).

It's hard enough getting all the stars aligned for a horse photo shoot, but then I add in the need to look good myself.  Pressure, too much pressure.  So, in typical Mary fashion, I decided that you would love to see the real me, the real Nick, and ignore the dismal lighting on a very cold, windy day.

Wait, there's more.

They say "A dirty horse is a happy horse".

Scrubbing off a little more dirt through a game of tag.

Nice form, huh?

Buddies.  oh, I made my hat.

  1. A couple of things to comment on. One, how do people find great backgrounds for their photos? I can't seem to find anyplace in the house that doesn't look boring. Two, you and Nick both look happy in the photos, and any post with animals are excellent. So there.

    1. Elle, there are few places in my house with flat spots for the camera, good light, non boring background. Something to study... Thanks for the visit-I'm glad you enjoy the animal posts.

  2. LOL, he's hardly muddy at all! You know it can get worse...MUCH worse. You two look happy and bubbly together, a very nice match indeed. BTW, Nick wears hats well too you know, and that one is a beauty.

  10. But aren't the unplanned, candid, take-it-as-it-comes shots the best? These show the joy you both have in dealing with each other in such a lovely way. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Yes, and we all get focused on presentation sometimes. I know I do when showing clothing shots and horse training results. You are right-if it is real, it is usually a good enough photo.
